Back Pain
Since back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide, it is vital to know how to fix it and prevent the causes of back pain. By far the most common thing we see in our office are complaints of back pain. The most common cause is dysfunction of the joints requiring a series of chiropractic adjustments. Other common causes are imbalances in the muscles and compensations in movement from other injuries. Sometimes emotional stress causes the imbalances, but more often then not it is to much sitting or a sports injury.
Neck Pain
Our necks are amazing. The cervical spine supports the full weight of your head which is on average about 12 pounds. If ideally aligned and functioning well, the head sits above the shoulders and allows free range of motion in many directions.
Trauma such as car accidents, falls, birth and / or repetitive micro traumas such as texting, working, playing on computers for hours or reading in bed with our heads on the pillow can cause dysfunction in the neck movement injuring the small ligaments and joint capsules. Muscle tightness and pain results. Chiropractic, Massage and corrective exercises can dramatically improve the function and lessen the pain, in most cases completely returning the neck to normalcy.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is a very common condition and affects almost half of the U.S. population. Most patients feel some sort of pain, limited range of motion, an inability to engage in activities of daily living (ADL) or something more serious as a permanent disability. The neck, upper back and shoulder are intertwined in their function and resultant pain. Chiropractic and other associated therapies work in 90% of cases saving people from surgery and or injections.
Headaches/ Migraines
Nine out of ten Americans say that they suffer from headaches. Ninety-five percent of headaches are tension, migraine, or cluster headaches. These types of headaches are not caused from a disease, but from bones in the upper neck not functioning properly causing tightness in the upper neck and jaw, They respond well to chiropractic and muscle work, sometimes laser therapy or ARPwave neuromuscular therapy is also helpful in healing and reprogramming the muscle. Some types of headaches are as simple to fix as drinking more water. Others take time and nutritional changes to change the chemistry of the brain/ hormones. At Crossroads Health Solutions we work with you to determine what adjustments and therapies are best to alleviate your headaches and migraines.
Sports Injury
Being an athlete with his share of injuries over the years, Dr Ken knows how frustrating it can be. We want to get back to training/playing as fast as possible and prevent future injury all at the same time. Major sports figures use the same techniques we have for you in our office: chiropractic, laser therapy and ARPwave technology to get healthy and prevent future injuries. It is all about balance, strength, flexibility (in varying degrees body builders vs gymnasts) and coordination no matter what the sport.
Auto Injuries
Even a "minor" crash can result in serious injuries, like ligament sprains. This can lead to chronic pain and disability if not treated properly. In fact, research shows that early treatment is the best way to prevent long-term symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they help restore the healthy, normal function of your nervous system and the rest of your muscles, ligaments etc. without the use of drugs or surgery. Thus avoiding the side effects of those medications.
Neuropathy
Neuropathy is a medical condition caused by damaged nerve cells and often associated with autoimmune diseases, infections, diabetes, tumors, or hereditary conditions. While Neuropathy is challenging to correct, we have seen good results with chiropractic, sometimes combined with other therapies such as nutrition, laser therapy and ARPwave neuromuscular re-education.
Knee Pain
Knee pain is actually Dr Ken’s personal success story. He says “Since the age of 15 I have been told I needed knee surgery. So far it hasn’t happened thanks to chiropractic. I found by keeping my back and feet aligned, my knee functions
beautifully, even though MRI shows bone on bone. Adding the
ARPwave therapy has retrained my muscles to take the force of
walking, dancing, and going up and down stairs which has alleviated extra stress and force on my knee joint.” Chiropractic helps the knee to function and the ARPwave Neuromuscular therapy can be the last piece of the puzzle to dramatically
reduce knee pain due to a variety of factors including normal “wear and tear”, injury, and arthritis.
Sciatica
Sciatica is characterized by pain in the lower back that radiates down one or both legs. The pain is described as dull, achy, sharp, like “pins and needles” or similar to electric shocks. Other symptoms associated with sciatica include burning, numbness and tingling sensations. Sciatic nerve pain varies in intensity from mild to severe, and frequency may range from occasional to constant. The onset is generally gradual and not necessarily associated with a previous event. Sciatica is also known as radiating or referred pain. Chiropractic works extremely well for most of these cases, and additional therapies can be added as needed for extreme cases.
Personal Injury
Our goal is to help you receive the proper care after a personal injury, auto accident or fall. We are devoted to helping you obtain the most comprehensive treatments and the care you need, so you may maintain your quality of life after an injury and can begin to feel like yourself again.
Too often, individuals involved in an injury have minimal or no symptoms until several weeks after the incident, which is why beginning treatment immediately is so important to prevent issues later. Helping you with your care from these sorts of injuries include: 1) getting your health back. 2) documenting your care 3) working with your insurance company or lawyer to get what is fair for you. We have been doing it for over thirty years and can help you negotiate the tricks others try to pull over on you.
Degenerative Disc Disease
Degenerative disc disease is when natural changes in the discs of your spine cause pain. The discs between vertebrae act as shock absorbers for your spine, and as you age, they can begin to lose flexibility. While this common, it is not an inevitable part of aging.
The discs are primarily composed of water, they absorb water and nutrients during movement. When a vertebra get stuck, it causes disfunction of the disc and loss of water and nutrition, thus not being able to regenerate efficiently. Chiropractic is the best remedy for degenerative disc pain. Other adjuncts include ARPwave neuromuscular re-education to redistribute the force and shock absorbing factor and laser therapy to aid healing. On a nutritional level, collagen, protein, and vitamin c are helpful.
Fibromyalgia Healing Center
According to the Mayo Clinic “Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and non-painful signals.”
Because of its complex nature and our ongoing quest for things that work we use a multidisciplinary approach for fibromyalgia treatment.
This includes the following:
1. Specific Upper cervical adjustment to relieve meningeal tension
2. Specific nutritional recommendations designed for the individual.
3. Neutralization of any strong emotional factors or events using the Demartini method. Love what was previously judged is a great healer
4. Lifestyle recommendations to enhance function and liveability.
One member of our office team has dealt with Fibromyalgia for over 20 years, which helps us to be very proactive in our search for healing therapies. She has noticed a 50% improvement in quality of life.
